GARETH QUINN REDMOND

BIO

Gareth Quinn Redmond is an Irish musician, recognized as one of the leading voices in Ireland’s ambient music scene. His work is deeply influenced by the Japanese concept of Kankyō Ongaku ( Environmental Music ) which focuses on crafting soundscapes that help the listener connect with their surroundings.

Much of Quinn Redmond’s music draws from the work of Satoshi Ashikawa, who described his work as a “sound scenery to be listened to casually… drifting like smoke.” This philosophy is central to Quinn Redmond’s compositions, which blend seamlessly into their environment, encouraging stillness and a deeper engagement with everyday life.

In addition to his solo work, Quinn Redmond is a member of the Irish band Throwing Shapes and has also collaborated with numerous other artists, including Albert Karch, C.R Gillespie, and Francis Harris. He has released music on respected labels such as WRWTFWW Records, Hidden Harmony Recordings, INNI and Sound As Language earning recognition for his delicate approach to the shape of sound.

Quinn Redmond is also an accomplished session musician and string arranger, whose career has brought him all over the world. He has toured extensively throughout the U.S.A, Europe, and Japan, performing alongside artists such as Glen Hansard, Bell X1, Ye Vagabonds and The Breeders. When he’s not out on tour, you’ll usually find Quinn Redmond in his home studio, happily working away on various projects, always with a cup of tea close by
